Paul Octopus is a two-year common squid with a history of correctly predicting the results of German international football matches, especially the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Paul was hatched at Sea Life Park in Weymouth, England, but currently residing at the Sea Life Aquarium in Oberhausen, Germany.
Two-year squid Paul, the so-called "octopus oracle "predicts Spain 2010 World Cup final victory over the Netherlands by selecting a shell from a glass box decorated with the Spanish national flag instead of a glass box with the Dutch flag at the Sea Life aquarium of the western German city of Oberhausen, July 9, 2010.
Paul offered food in two identical containers, a container marked with flags of Germany and the other with the flag German opponent. In each case, Paul's choice of food is interpreted as his predicted victor.
